Step 1: Reach Out

Call, email, or fill out the introductory questionnaire on our Binti website and someone from the Treatment Foster Care Team would be happy to answer your questions or help with your application.

Step 2: Apply

The application to become a TFC Foster Parent is detailed, but our application process is user friendly and someone from our team is always happy to help walk you through the steps.

Step 3: Get Training

TFC Foster Parents are required to complete a minimum of 14 hours and up to 37 hours of pre-service training.  Pathways TFC team will provide this training to you, plus help you identify any additional topics that will help you become a highly successful Treatment Foster Parent.

Step 4: Home Study

Our licensing worker will work with you to schedule your personal interview and home inspection and environmental checklist.  The checklist has multiple Idaho licensing and safety requirements to ensure that your home is safe from any potential danger or harm for children.

Step 5: Final Review

The final review will be a meeting with you and your licensing worker to discuss your Home Study, any outstanding items that need to be completed, and make sure that you feel you are ready.

Step 6: Welcome a Child

Once you are fully licensed and ready, you will be matched with a child based on you and the child’s perceived compatibility and a TFC team member will reach out with information about the child you’ve been matched with. You then have the option to accept or decline the match based on your current circumstances and compatibility. If a child is placed with you, you will then begin the indescribably important work of providing a safe and loving home environment for a child in foster care.
